Trap Game?

Tonight the 76ers will take on the Charlotte Hornets at the Wells Fargo Center with tipoff at 7. Going into this game I expect us to win. We are the more superior team and we are coming off the biggest win of the season in Orlando.

The 76ers should definitely be able to take care of business tonight, but they shouldn’t overlook this young Hornets squad. The two wins that the Hornets have had so far have come against the Brooklyn Nets and Dallas Mavericks, two teams that are expected to compete for a championship.

This Hornets’ roster has improved from previous seasons. Lonzo Ball’s younger brother Lamelo Ball is showing people why he was the third pick in this year’s draft. He’s averaging 11.2 ppg in only 21 minutes of action, pretty good for a rook. They have two other talented guards in Devonte Graham and Terry Rozier/Scary Terry.

Former Boston Celtic Gordan Hayward signed a massive 4 year $120 million contract with the Hornets. Yes, it is an overpay for someone who has an injury history and will be turning 31 in March, but he has been a contributor on this squad averaging 18.6 ppg in 33 minutes of playing time. This isn’t the same old Hornets team that we’re accustomed to seeing.

Feed Joel

Joel Embiid has been absolutely dominant in his career, but especially against the Hornets. The reason to why he’s been so dominant against this specific team is because they haven’t had a center that can defend him in the post. You can’t rely on Cody Zeller and Bismack Biyombo to guard the best center in the league, sorry Nikola Jokic fans.

To make matter worse for the Hornets is that Zeller will be out for an extended period of time with a fractured left hand. Their going to have to rely on Biyombo to guard Embiid, this should be fun. Expect Embiid to have a big game tonight.
