76ers defeated by the shorthanded Brooklyn Nets (1/8/21)

After winning five in a row, the Sixers tasted their first defeat in almost two weeks. The Nets beat them by a final score of 122–109. Brooklyn had control for almost the entirety of the game. Here are my takeways from last night’s game.

To many turnovers

The Sixers have done a pretty good job at limiting the turnovers this season, but last night was not the case. They looked sloppy the whole entire game and turned over the ball a total of 20 times. A handful of those turnovers led to buckets for the Nets.

Poor defense

The Sixers showed no effort defensively. They let the Nets score easy buckets in the paint and from beyond the arc. They did a poor job containing Caris Lavert and Joe Harris as they combined for 50 points.

Missing Seth Curry

Curry brings a lot to this team. He’s easily the best shooter on this team, and the Sixers had a rough night from deep due to his absence. Last night the team only shot 34.6% from deep.

No show from the two All-Stars

Embiid and Simmons were both non existent. They both played sloppy and didn’t look like their usual selves as they each turned over the ball five times.
